CHENANI  TO SRINIGAR 

They have no idea when the road will open to Jammu, which has been closed for six days now and is the only road linking the north to the south in Kashmir. Trucks are lined up along the route for 20 kms. 
Can't  stay in last night's  hotel another day so we have decided to go back to Leh and work our way back. So left at 11:30am back up to Srinigar to Treebo Hotel where I got my same room again. Went across the road to the Lemon Tree Hotel for a healthy meal now that my stomach is back to normal. Don't  know what the plan or route will be but all the landslides have caused havoc for everyone.

    The hotel, everyone  waiting for the road to open, some have been here for four days.

    Another excavators pays the price working in this region with so many landslides.

SHIMLA 11 AUGUST 130kms.

Was a long slow wet day to Shimla which is at about 2000 metres. It took us about six and a half hours to do 130 kms virtually  all in the rain, the road was mostly one lane up the mountains and twisty all the way, but not nice twisty. Finally  got to Shimla and got a room and went were soaked and my passport was soaked, had it in my ''waterproof " suite and now is ruined. Busy drying  out my gear now but the forecast doesn't look good for the next few days, so will decide in the morning where to go, if anywhere.     View from my window.

NEW DELHI 9 AUGUST 2025

Had a 6 hour flight to Addis then anothe 6 hours to New Delhi arriving at 8:30am. Got a taxi to hotel which is 28kms away to Park Plaza Hotel, near the bike rental place.  Had some lunch and then fell asleep for the rest of the day, could not wake up. Went out to eat and had a cold Kingfisher and got back to the hotel and slept through the night till Richard called me at 7:30am.  We had breakfast  and caught up from last time we were together in Baghdad, he had a heart attack when he got to London and now has 7 stints, but other than that is good to go. Got a tuk tub to go fetch our bikes 2kms away, and the driving is hectic here and anything goes. We have a 200cc Hero Pulse 2022, was meant to be a 2024 but wasn't. So we are all set for tomorrow's  departure north. A friend that hosted me in Israel is in town and am going to have breakfast with him in the morning at 7 am and then will try to get out of Delhi.     Vie...
