DELHI TO AGRA 15 & 16 SEPTEMBER 2025

SHIMLA TO DELHI   378 kms.
Was a 7.5 hrs of misery on the road to Delhi with the crazy  drivers, for them it's  normal but for me it's nuts how they drive. You have to be focused all the time is all I can say, the things they do on the road, well they stop wherever and nobody  is phased ,they just drive around, no problem or road rage. You can stop on the bridge ,block one lane, get out feed the ducks below and the traffic is forced into one lane and all is good. It works. Got to Delhi and got a hotel, not gret but will work as our original hotel was fully booked.
 

DELHI TO AGRA    221kms
Left at 7:45am to escape the traffic choas and then 30kms from Delhi is a wonderful 3 lane toll highway all the way to Agra. Unfortunately  they even had a Starbucks along the route where we stopped for a coffee and a snack. Was so nice to ride at 80 kmph non stop and arrived in Agra at 11:30am. Staying at Shyma Palace Hotel (INR 2500) and is a 7 minute walk to the Taj Mahal which we will visit at 5am tomorrow  morning. 

Visited the  Agra Fort and walked around the area and topped up my Sim card, $4 for one month, unlimited 5G data.

SHIMLA 11 AUGUST 130kms.

Was a long slow wet day to Shimla which is at about 2000 metres. It took us about six and a half hours to do 130 kms virtually  all in the rain, the road was mostly one lane up the mountains and twisty all the way, but not nice twisty. Finally  got to Shimla and got a room and went were soaked and my passport was soaked, had it in my ''waterproof " suite and now is ruined. Busy drying  out my gear now but the forecast doesn't look good for the next few days, so will decide in the morning where to go, if anywhere.     View from my window.

NEW DELHI 9 AUGUST 2025

Had a 6 hour flight to Addis then anothe 6 hours to New Delhi arriving at 8:30am. Got a taxi to hotel which is 28kms away to Park Plaza Hotel, near the bike rental place.  Had some lunch and then fell asleep for the rest of the day, could not wake up. Went out to eat and had a cold Kingfisher and got back to the hotel and slept through the night till Richard called me at 7:30am.  We had breakfast  and caught up from last time we were together in Baghdad, he had a heart attack when he got to London and now has 7 stints, but other than that is good to go. Got a tuk tub to go fetch our bikes 2kms away, and the driving is hectic here and anything goes. We have a 200cc Hero Pulse 2022, was meant to be a 2024 but wasn't. So we are all set for tomorrow's  departure north. A friend that hosted me in Israel is in town and am going to have breakfast with him in the morning at 7 am and then will try to get out of Delhi.     Vie...
