HUNDER-TURTUK-LEH 295 kms 9.5 hrs. 30 August 2025

Was a nice stay in Hunder, B2 Retreat had good food and a nice clean bedroom with a sunny balcony and gret views of the mountains.
Went up the valley to Turtuk and they would not allow us to go to the border view post, only Indians can go, so had to turn around and headed for Leh, 210 kms away.
The valley wasn't  as impressive  as yesterday's, but Richard thought it was way better, so there you go. It was a beautiful  ride and the mountain  colours jumped out at you, there must be something  in those mountains. 
Weather was gret again with some high clouds but sunny  and hot.
Went over Khardung La Pass again which was a treat and from the top we could see Leh in the distance surrounded by snow capped mountains. 
Went back to our usual haunt PlayShayShay Guest house and are the only one's  here tonight. I left my short pants at B2 and tried to buy some in Leh but have had no luck.Went to Chopsticks for a beer and a lightmeal, one of the best places to eat here.

SHIMLA 11 AUGUST 130kms.

Was a long slow wet day to Shimla which is at about 2000 metres. It took us about six and a half hours to do 130 kms virtually  all in the rain, the road was mostly one lane up the mountains and twisty all the way, but not nice twisty. Finally  got to Shimla and got a room and went were soaked and my passport was soaked, had it in my ''waterproof " suite and now is ruined. Busy drying  out my gear now but the forecast doesn't look good for the next few days, so will decide in the morning where to go, if anywhere.     View from my window.

NEW DELHI 9 AUGUST 2025

Had a 6 hour flight to Addis then anothe 6 hours to New Delhi arriving at 8:30am. Got a taxi to hotel which is 28kms away to Park Plaza Hotel, near the bike rental place.  Had some lunch and then fell asleep for the rest of the day, could not wake up. Went out to eat and had a cold Kingfisher and got back to the hotel and slept through the night till Richard called me at 7:30am.  We had breakfast  and caught up from last time we were together in Baghdad, he had a heart attack when he got to London and now has 7 stints, but other than that is good to go. Got a tuk tub to go fetch our bikes 2kms away, and the driving is hectic here and anything goes. We have a 200cc Hero Pulse 2022, was meant to be a 2024 but wasn't. So we are all set for tomorrow's  departure north. A friend that hosted me in Israel is in town and am going to have breakfast with him in the morning at 7 am and then will try to get out of Delhi.     Vie...
