CHANDIGARH 10 AUGUST 275kms.

Met Kobi and his son at 7 am for brekfast at his hotel. From Israel  to India, Kobi has been here for two months in the same area where we are planning to go, his seventh visit to India. 
I met him at some traffic lights north of Tel Aviv and he spent the next four days with me showing me all around Israel and stayed one night at his house.

The ride up to Chandigarh was an eye opener and you have cows laying in a four lane highway and vehicles moving erratically all the time, anything goes. 
With a small bike it takes a lot longer to get around, really doesn't  make much difference  here cause you just can't  go fast, nobody is ever in a single lane, they are all over the show so you have to pay attention all the time.
Got a fancy hotel in Chandigarh and didn't  do the money math's conversion right in my head and paid the price.

SHIMLA 11 AUGUST 130kms.

Was a long slow wet day to Shimla which is at about 2000 metres. It took us about six and a half hours to do 130 kms virtually  all in the rain, the road was mostly one lane up the mountains and twisty all the way, but not nice twisty. Finally  got to Shimla and got a room and went were soaked and my passport was soaked, had it in my ''waterproof " suite and now is ruined. Busy drying  out my gear now but the forecast doesn't look good for the next few days, so will decide in the morning where to go, if anywhere.     View from my window.

NEW DELHI 9 AUGUST 2025

Had a 6 hour flight to Addis then anothe 6 hours to New Delhi arriving at 8:30am. Got a taxi to hotel which is 28kms away to Park Plaza Hotel, near the bike rental place.  Had some lunch and then fell asleep for the rest of the day, could not wake up. Went out to eat and had a cold Kingfisher and got back to the hotel and slept through the night till Richard called me at 7:30am.  We had breakfast  and caught up from last time we were together in Baghdad, he had a heart attack when he got to London and now has 7 stints, but other than that is good to go. Got a tuk tub to go fetch our bikes 2kms away, and the driving is hectic here and anything goes. We have a 200cc Hero Pulse 2022, was meant to be a 2024 but wasn't. So we are all set for tomorrow's  departure north. A friend that hosted me in Israel is in town and am going to have breakfast with him in the morning at 7 am and then will try to get out of Delhi.     Vie...
